In het hart van Chianti Classico ligt Tenuta Tignanello. Hier verbouwt Antinori zijn Sangiovese én de Cabernet Sauvignon druiven die, mits goed genoeg, voor deze Tignanello worden gebruikt. De wijn rijpt op Franse en Hongaarse barriques. Omdat deze wijn niet binnen de wetgeving van Chianti Classico DOCG valt mag deze het bekende zwarte haantje (Gallo Nero) niet dragen. Tignanello wordt gezien als de eerste Super Tuscan.

Samen met de andere kenmerkende wijn van dit landgoed, Solaia, wordt Tignanello gezien als een van de meest invloedrijke wijnen in de geschiedenis van de Italiaanse wijnbouw.

De blend bestaat uit +/- 80% Sangiovese en 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
